My FedEx Shipping Quotes contribution (http://www.ubercart.org/contrib/2106) will handle freight quotes properly if it's tweaked - right now it hardwires in "Residential" as the address type for safety (Residence rates are higher than Commercial rates, and I don't want to underquote if the customer choses "Commercial" but the address is actual a house. Then you pay the higher rate *and* get hit with a small penalty.) I've been meaning to make this into an admin-selectable option - maybe it also has to be set per-product because some products can only be sent freight? The delivery options are the similar - they probably need to be set per-product, but that's not hard to put in.
Also, package dimensions are critical for freight shipments, and I again hardwire in a size so the quote for "normal" shipments comes out right. For freight shipments the actual package size needs to be sent, which is easy if there's only one item in the order but much harder if there are multiple items. I'm open to suggestions on how to compute a size in a way that will work for your application.
Lyle's the guy responsible for UPS shipping - I'm sure that freight essentially works for UPS as well, but may also require a few tweaks.
I don't personally ship freight so I don't know the important options - perhaps you can fill me in? However, I have successfully retrieved freight quotes from the FedEx server just by changing the Residential and Size values to make them applicable to a freight shipment, so I know it'll be no big deal to add what you need.
