The houseboat we are staying on is large. It has four full bedrooms (2 queens and 4 twin beds) plus a couple of comfy couches and oodles of floor space. Many people choose to sleep on the top deck under the stars. It has a full kitchen including frig, freezer, range, and microwave. We also have a nice grill on top with a griddle. Usually we just grill out and never use the range. The boat has a generator which provides power through an inverter which cleans the power up quite a bit. When docked we plug directly into the power grid. We will bring a UPS or two from the office, but I don't think we will need them. We have been using laptops on the boat for years without issue.
What should I pack?
You will need comfy cloths for the weekend. Shorts and t-shirts or similar. It gets a little cool some evenings, so you might want to bring a long sleeve T or similar. You need a swim suit. We have plenty of towels on the boat, but remember the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy says "A towel is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have." So maybe you should bring yours
You need sunscreen and any other sun shading items you prefer like sunglasses or a hat. You need toiletries. You probably want to bring your laptop and other coding implements. We will have wireless at the dock, and probably interface through a 3g phone when we are out on the lake. The boat has a sound system, so bring your IPOD.
What should I not pack?
Bedding. Unless you have special needs, it is already on the boat.
What about food?
Mike has graciously volunteered to bring the meat. We will stop at a grocery store on the way to the lake and purchase all the drinks and groceries for the weekend. This should allow most everyone to get what they want to eat and provide for anyone who has special needs (Vegie, Vegan, lactos, etc . . ) The lake is in a dry county (I know, I know) which means there are no stores selling alcohol within 30 minutes of the dock. So be prepared.
I think that just about covers it. If there are any other questions or anything I forgot, let me know.
Peace,
Andy
