gunzip: uc_cim_1.x_0.8.tar.gz: not in gzip format

I get the following error when I try to gunzip the v0.8 of this contrib:

:# gunzip uc_cim_1.x_0.8.tar.gz
gunzip: uc_cim_1.x_0.8.tar.gz: not in gzip format

uc_cim_1RC5_0.7.tar.gz seems to work.

Any ideas?

UPDATE: Attached is a repackaged version in .zip format. The .tar.gz would not open on Linux, but it did open on my Mac.
