It sounds like the transaction is being submitted successfully (with version 0.81), but the response isn't being understood. The most common cause for this is the "response delimiting character." Can you check your Authorize.net account to see what yours is set to? Then make sure your setting in the Ubercart uc_cim module matches that.
Also, is there any more detail in the watchdog logs? (admin/logs/watchdog)
