I am looking for a solution that allows me to have recurring fees for roles on my UC 2.x/D 6.x build

Can anyone tell me the state of play with this for UC 2.x? I'm struggling to get to grips with what I need to get/do to get this working. Is it a case of grabbing uc_subscribe and carrying out the patch to it (which sounds as though it in itself may have issues?)

I currently have a product created that has a role associated to it which expires after one month, I just need to take care of recurring fees and allowing the user to cancel this whenever they wish - I've tried the 'Recurring Product' on the UC 2.x Livetest site...it all seems to work ok but I didn't really get any sense that it would be a recurring charge on the cart/checkout pages and I didn't see an option that allowed me to cancel the subscription.
