For swatches I had to get a little tricky. What I ended up doing was using the attribute module of course, subtracting the price that would equal the price I wanted to charge for the swatch.

Example, if you are selling DVD's for $10, and you want to sell just the DVD case for $1 ... under the product attribute options you would insert "-9" for the case. $10 -$9 = $1. Hope that makes sense!
