lakbaytaodev,
I'm fairly certain I did it with the Views module and Views Slideshow module. Furthermore, we added the Nodequeue module to help us pick exactly the NID's we wanted to display.
So here's how it works. Once you install Nodequeue I'm pretty sure it automatically creates at least one default view for you to edit.
In that view, which by default may be set up as a page, we added a block.
Then, Under "Basic Settings" -> "Style" pick slideshow.
In the Nodequeue admin area we had to add NID's to a queue, then associate that queue with the view in the "Relationships" area of the View admin page mentioned above.
Then, under "Relationships" pick "Nodequeue" if you need to hand pick your NIDs. There are other ways to filter that may not require Nodequeue. Depends on the taxonomy system you've set up.
I highly value the "Administration Menu" module. It really comes in handy when you are navigating back and forth between these module admin pages and can't exactly remember where to find menu settings. For instance Nodequeue admin will be under "Content Management" while Views admin will be under "Site Building" in the Admin drop down menu system.
Hope that helps get you started.
