I used jQuery UI Tabs on Biblical Training for a friend to great effect. It also requires some PHP knowledge, though, as you have to use an API similar to the Forms API to print out tabbed displays; I just integrated it into my template.php so a variable for the tabbed area was available on the appropriate lecture pages.
