Are you using just the Ubercart DB for products, inventories, customers, etc.?

I'm talking to a brick-and-mortar jewelry store that wants an online store that communicates with their existing database (a proprietary database specialized for the jewelry market)--at least inventory, but daily integration across the tables would be ideal.

An experience or insight on that?
