I actually tried magento first, it definitely isn't for the technically challenged. It took hours just to install it and a lot of back and forth with my tech support, Drupal=1min+UC= a few minutes. Then when I finally had it going I could add products and that was about it, couldn't figure out how to do much else, like change the theme, promote items to front page etc.
It does have a nicer out of the box look,really like the cleanness and zoomable product image, but it seems nowhere near as customizable as D+UC. In the time it took me just to download and install it I had an UC Store and framework with products, forums etc. up and running....
