Just wondering...

Since european market is emerging on the ubercart forums Smiling (see f.i here: http://www.ubercart.org/forum/internationalization/8980/wakening_call_eu... )

would there be any interest in an small (sized and/or budget) European Ubercart meeting?

I couldn't find anything here on ubercart.org or on groups.drupal.org

Me, myself and I, willing to take lead in organizing it.

My best advice would be to find someone who's really interested in bringing such an event to life, specifically someone (or some organization) with an accessible venue. Drupalcamp Colorado worked out really well for Ubercamp here because virtually everything was already done. I've had to do very little beyond promoting the event as a gathering for Ubercart users and developers in addition to the normal locals.

Beyond that, do what works. You're going to need people who are interested in learning and people who are interesting enough to teach. Eye-wink Camp and con events usually have open session proposals, but it could also be beneficial to plan a schedule that takes attendees through the absolute basics, discusses advanced and European specific configuration difficulties, and maybe focuses on development for those in attendance. If you posted categories, it would be interesting to see if anyone would be willing to fill the spots.

If you decide to go for it, I'm at your disposal for information and promotion. I can't promise I'd attend, but I can guarantee I'd wish I was there. Eye-wink

Yeah Docc, Amsterdam would be nice, mainly because I'm from Holland too Smiling On the other hand... Europe isn't that big any more

We have (or had, don't remember it went broke or so) a cheap air company in Europe (Ireland) called Ryan Air Smiling

Which is making the bridge to Ryans comment....

You've pointed out some various good issues there Ryan,... if that's the way it could go (interested sponsers may PM me Smiling ) it would be very nice. Experience with organizing events isn't a strange thing to me, so if it has to be done, it has to be done...

On the other hand.. Ubercart is a opensource driven initiative, meaning creating something together for the use of all. I'm wondering if this could be the case on the organization of such a European Ubercart meeting. Can we work out a model to get this done...

First of all... if there not enough participant willing to join, attent or whatever... There's obviously no need in organizing such an event. Not saying a minor response here is everything I'm willing to undertake, but hey, it's the best place to start Eye-wink

So European Dev's.... as read somewhere else on a Ubercart Forum.... is there a need/desire for such a meeting ?
