As the news post says, Ubercart has been promoted to the beta phase. We believe most of the core features are in place, and we're really interested in ironing out some remaining issues and polishing off a few features that are already in the works.

During the beta phase, we're looking to nail down remaining bugs and usability deficiencies, but we won't necessarily be adding in a lot of new features. Most of the features slated for inclusion have already been in the works or at least under discussion for a while.

We'll happily discuss and review patches for the issues isolated in this thread:

Things to keep an eye on: (not necessarily bugs, but might be)

  • Installation process
  • Shipping quotes
  • Workflow-ng conditions and default configurations
  • Anonymous checkout and user account creation
  • PostgreSQL support
  • Make sure reports are being generated correctly

Known bugs to iron out:

Features still in the works:

Items in need of some contributed love: (best served up as modules or patches for review as we can't seem to find the time to get to these)

  • Support for $0 order total checkout
  • Address/profile integration
  • Support for non-JS users (I like that idea about instructing users how to turn on JS for a contrib module)
  • Attribute enhancements, specifically images per attribute and dependent attributes
  • Product kit enhancements

Feel free to post your thoughts or any installation problems in this thread. If you'd like to start an issue or post a patch for one of the issues above, feel free! (Alternatively, you can continue the discussion for those items with threads already in existence.)

Thanks for all the support from the community. You've been a great help in making this project what it is. And once again we can pat Shawn on the back for getting the reports and simple stock tracking modules ready for core.

You may notice a few modules have been moved out of core and posted to the contrib directory. You may have to update some settings to compensate for these changes. Other changes that may affect your sites include settings updates for shipping, taxes, and checkout buttons. If something isn't working as expected, try resaving your settings before panicking. Shocked Further, reliance on the ubercart_images directory has been removed. I'm not sure this means you actually need to move any folders around manually, but if images turn up missing that may be the culprit. We'll get it figured out as we go, I suppose!
