But with ubercart 2.x on drupal 6, can i do all things like ubercart 1.x on drupal 5?

I'm in the process of converting my store to Ubercart 2.x for Drupal 6, and I haven't found a single thing it won't do that my old version would. Plus, there's many new useful features that make the switch worth it.
One caution, however: most of the third party Ubercart modules designed for the 1.x branch haven't been ported yet, so be sure to check with modules you rely on before trying to switch over.
Drupal 6.10
I installed Ubercart on my Drupal site when I had Drupal 6.9 and was constantly getting error messages that Ubercart (and all the needed modules that go with it i.e. cck) was not compatible with this version of Drupal. So I upgraded my Drupal to 6.10 and still get the messages.
What version of Drupal do I need to have installed to get Ubercart to work? Or is there something I missed perhaps.
Most of the Ubercart core and the supporting modules say this behind them:
"This version is incompatible with the 6.10 version of Drupal core."
Any help would be appreciated. We were really excited about using Ubercart and would love to get it working, it's the perfect solution for our websites...IF we can get it running

It sounds like you're running the 1.x branch of Ubercart, and the 5.x modules that go with it. For Drupal 6, you need Ubercart 2.x, and the 6.x modules.

It would be great if it were that simple, but I am running Ubercart 6.x-2.0-rc1 and the "recommended" add-ons are all in the version 6.x variety.

There might be another, older copy of Ubercart in your modules folders somewhere. Check the /modules, /sites/all/modules, and /sites/example.com/modules folders if it exists for it. If Drupal finds a copy of a module in one of those places, it won't recognize any others.
If there really isn't one, I'd say delete the ubercart folder, download it again, and install it fresh. Module versions start with the Drupal version they're compatible with, and the only versions of Ubercart 2 is for Drupal 6.
