Catalog images error

I've been pulling my hair out for two days now. I must have done something but for the life of me can't figure out what. When I try to import a catalog image for a term, I get the error:

The selected file could not be copied, because no file by that name exists. Please check that you supplied the correct filename.

In the admin>content management>categories>list term>edit page, I have the browse button, so I know the file exists since I am pointing to it.

My imagecache has all the presets. This in fact worked for me last week, now can't get any more pics in my catalog. I have even uninstalled imagecache and catalog modules in hope of starting over, but still get the same error.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated.

In my experience, this message appears when one has the image.module installed and activated along with the CCK and imagecache modules. If this is the case, you could try to disable the image.module (assuming you are not using it for other functions on your site).

Forgot to add that you could also try disabling all image attachments for node types, where such functionality exists.

I originally did not have the images.module installed and it worked. For some reason it stopped working, and in my screwing around I installed it, then noticed a thread that mentioned it could cause errors. So I uninstalled it. It isn't there right now - the only image modules installed are imagecache and imce.

Not sure what you mean by "disabling all image attachments for node types" though. Willing to try anything at this point. Can't get images in my catalog no matter what I do.

Bug KillerGetting busy with the Ubercode.

this problem occured for me when i was using the development release of image field module for CCK. switched back to the non development release of it and it all worked fine again after emptying all the cache tables and session table.

I've got the production release of imagefield module for CCK installed (5.x-1.1), unless you mean to install the development version instead of the production version. Not sure how to empty all the cache and session tables, but not sure if that applies if I'm using the production version. I've tried a lot of variations so far, and still keep getting this error. Argh!

Under types of content you have page, product, story, forum, etc. Edit each content type and disable anything relating to images. I understand your frustration -- sometimes the only recourse is a fresh install, which might makes sense anyway now that Drupal 5.2 is out.
