I'm looking hire an Ubercart expert to implement a merchandise discount on items when a museum membership is added to the shopping cart. Different discounts would be extended depending on what level of membership is added to the cart (ie: student, family, patron, etc). Once the order is submitted the customer's role would change to the membership type.
Two merchant accounts would process the transaction. One for the merchandise and one for the membership.
On the product page the standard price would show along with the member price. In the cart the total discount would show with the text: Become a member today and save $x.xx on your order.
A flag field on all skus indicates items that should not be discounted.
Admin screen for members would show expired members and send an email asking them to renew their membership.
