USPS Shipping Quotes Behaving Strangely

Hello, our client at http://organicgrace.com has recently noticed some odd calculations from USPS. So I checked it out:

  • I turned on the quote debug display at admin/store/settings/quotes/edit
  • I went to http://ircalc.usps.gov/ and calculated the correct cost: $14.35 (Priority Mail)
  • I made a purchase of the product at http://organicgrace.com/node/38
  • After entering the shipping info. the UPS and USPS rates were returned. The UPS rates all look to be normal, and debug information is showing for the UPS quotes. However, USPS returned:

"U.S.P.S. Priority Mail, 2 days in transit: $70.25"

And no debug information was displaying. Below that is:

"There were problems getting a shipping quote. Please verify the delivery and product information and try again."

Also, I tried purchasing another product (http://organicgrace.com/node/460) and had a very different (yet still problematic) result:

  • This time both First Class and Priority were returned, although only Priority is enabled.
  • This time the Priority quote matched the usps.gov quote (though the First Class option was not quite right):

"U.S.P.S. First-Class Mail Parcel, 6 days in transit: $3.96"
"U.S.P.S. Priority Mail, 2 days in transit: $4.60"

Very strange happenings, indeed. Any advice/help is much appreciated.

Thanks,

Jim

Are you on beta 5? I know there have been some improvements to the First-class shipping, but I don't know if it would fix all the problems you're having.

Hey Lyle,

Thanks for the reply Smiling Actually, she is currently on Ubercart 5.x-0.4-dev. We will update to Beta 5 and see what happens.

Regards,

Jim

Speaking of, I noticed that the changes I suggested here:

http://www.ubercart.org/forum/bug_reports/2974/beta_4_and_previous_usps_...

didn't make it into the ubercart beta 5 release. What's the proper method for submitting this patch to ensure it (or a variant thereof) makes it into the next beta?
