What happens if you set up subscriptions and then change the authorize merchant settings? I would think it would orphan your existing ARB subscriptions. ARB will continue billing outside of drupal but then drupal loses track of those subscriptions. If you tried to cancel an ARB subscription you'd get an error code I assume from Authorize saying it doesn't exist bc you created it with a different merchant account. Am I right?
