POLL: Are you interested in a Payment Plan Module?

I started a poll for this as a module. It seems that this feature is needed by many people for many use cases. For mine I need to allow an option to pay over 3 payments on a single order. It doesn't require recurring payments because they would be sent a reminder that a payment is due and the ability to make a payment with whatever payment method that is available. They could pay by check then by cc then by paypal to payoff one order. I'd like the system to track payments and those payments to viewable by admin and customer.

I'm willing to sponsor this module, but i have limited funds. I'm hoping others will want to contribute, since it seems to be an active request.

I added links and short clips from some of the forum topics that address a similar request.

Adding partial payment functionality in ubercart module

modmaker wrote:

Hello,
I am trying to create a module for ubercart that will allow partial payments, a kind of, booking a product/ service. Presently with ubercart, one is required to pay the full amount to buy a product or service. There is a recurring fee module but that is not what I am after. In my scenario where the product or service is costing more than 10000USD, customers may prefer to pay a partial amount as booking and pay the rest in person.

Having issues with allowing customers view their payment history

I can not seem to find out how to allow customers to view their payment history along with the remaining balance owed on their order. Is there a way to allow customers to do so?

Create Manual Order with Full Payment Processing

gooddesignusa wrote:

Say I use the "other" payment gateway. The user buys some stuff and the order goes through. The user has a balance left over since they haven't paid yet. They want to pay later. If only I could give them access to the admin/store/orders/#/credit page. Maybe even a copy of that page. The page doesn't even have to be private / viewable to only that user. It just needs to be SSL. That would make it possible for someone else was to pay the balance without having the login / pass for the user.

I'd chip in

I'd be willing to chip in for this. I need it desperately and I had already submitted a request into Commerce Guys (attention Ryan). I wonder how much something like this would cost?

Re: I'd chip in

I think this sort of feature make sense to be part of uc_recurring or at least extend uc_recurring functionality.

uc_recurring already does almost everything needed at the moment, the only part missing is the ability to pay an invoice on the site after the order was created. And that feature would be a great addition into ubercart on its own. (e.g. admin being able to generate an order and send out invoices to be paid which the user could pay via any standard method accepted on the site).

Also some people are going to want to have their payment plans automatically charged which is what uc_recurring is designed to do.

Looking for this as well

I would love to have this function. Its a great idea if you are trying to sell something that is of a larger scale, like projects.

Looking forward to seeing this.

Progress?

Did anyone get going on this? If not I might get one of my developers started on the project. I have two clients needing this functionality.

Please let me know ASAP if someone has started, otherwise we'll get moving tomorrow.

Sorry I've been very ill

I've been down since December and I have not had the ability to do much of anything. No one has started anything on this that I know of. Any contributions would be helpful.

Interested as well

If anyone has any code in the works I'd be happy to give it a spin and hack on it.

yes!

I especially need the functionality requested by ryanbasicind@aol.com
This is for collecting fees for a non-profit artist group so alas - we don't have funds for development.. but it seems like something lots of people would need.
I'd also like to be able to pull the payments made on a given day or by a given user into a view for reporting.

Kicking ideas around

What if we were to take a discounts module, and add some more logic and functions to it. Then in a merging module, hide the discounts and have their settings set by the admin/store owner. At checkout time, take the "discount" (obviously not shown as a discount to the user), and create a new invoice at the invoice completion time for the amount of the discount. If you need multiple installments, add some logic so that at checkout of the next invoice, another invoice is created again with the remaining "discount".

Eh?

I am willing to help out on this

I need this functionality as well. I do not have $$ but I can hack code somewhat.

Has anyone started on this module yet?

Do you need someone to test it or work with you?
