I have nearly completed the first release of uc_option_image.module which will provide an instant ability to toggle JavaScript displays of image derivatives. Any suggestions on additional features would be welcome as right now it simply provides uploading per option, rebuilding of derivatives via admin/content/node, default JavaScript image switcher with 'fade' or 'none' for effects.
