I'm using Ubercart for my store and I have a product that has an attribute with too many options for a dropdown and that requires viewing thumbnails in order to select the option. I'd like to add a link button to the end of the text field that would take customers to a popup page showing all the fabric patterns so they can select a radio button and have that selection show up in the textfield on closing the popup. I've done this before in straight PHP but don't know how to implement this in Drupal/Ubercart.

I was thinking of doing the patterns as a new content type and linking to that node, but how do I get the link on the text field and where do I put the Javascript to insert the selection in the textbox? Hope this isn't too complicated. Can you think of an easier solution? Thanks.
