At the beginning of the file ubercart/payment/uc_paypal/uc_paypal.module I read the following comment:

You should turn on IPN Notifications in your PayPal profile but leave the IPN URL blank. This allows the module to specify an IPN URL when it directs payments through PayPal that includes the order ID for debugging purposes.

I would like to know if that comment is still up to date because PayPal does not accept an empty field for the URL as you can see in the attached screenshot.

If that comment is not appropriate anymore I would definitively suggest to remove it.

If I understand post number 27 in the thread at http://www.ubercart.org/forum/support/524/paypal_ipn_integration_not_wor... (written by torgosPizza) correctly he also says that the url field is required by PayPal.

Re: Documentation about IPN in the file uc_paypal.module

At http://www.ubercart.org/faq/2439 I read "turn off the IPN" but the file mentioned in my first post says "You should turn on IPN Notifications". I do not think that both of these information can be true at the same time. Can anybody update (correct) the documentation please?

As mentioned by fmueller, i'm having the same problem. The documentation at http://www.ubercart.org/faq/2439 says, leave the Notification URL blank
but when i try it, it gives a message

"You must enter a properly formatted URL into the Notification URL field in order to activate Instant Payment Notification."

Is this document outdated ? If so, is there a correct doc for configuring IPN for Paypal Website Payment Standard ?

- tried a vanilla drupal 6.20 + ubercart 2.4 and created a new business test account on the sandbox.
- updated the paypal website payment standard settings on the ubercart site and placed a test order.
- logged into paypal sandbox with the personal account and made a payment.
- the payment went through and when see the watchdog entries saw the detailed ipn entries.

would this mean that the IPN settings in the Paypal Business Test Account (Profile -> IPN) is no longer relevant ?
