Disable/uninstall the various Ubercart modules through your site's module forms.

Then just delete the module folders containing the files?

Yep, that'll do it. It's just like any other set of Drupal modules. Smiling

I've never removed any individually before, just wanted to make sure there wasn't a 'twist' to it. Thanks!!!

scrapping ubercart

Because it's too dadgum hard! It installed just great -- but then I couldn't puzzle out how to do anything at all with it!

Probably it's because Drupal is so new to me, I'm more accustomed to much simpler CMS things, but trying to learn Drupal AND get ubercart running at the same time is just not feasible...

I feel for ya, Andria. It's definitely not a single afternoon task. Feel free to PM me with your thoughts on what was most difficult and how we can address those things in the code and in the documentation. Your feedback would be most appreciated. Smiling

Re: How do I remove ubercart?

I think it's this whole "taxonomy" nightmare... I just couldn't figure out how to define a product; in my case, site designs, either a download pkg for the DIY'ers or a custom site based on a particular design. I'm going to look at this other thing I found called "Quickfiles", which looks a whole lot simpler to set up -- while at the same time I try to figure out more about the ins and outs of Drupal itself. I read the article "Drupal and the New Paradigm" which explained a little to me about why I find Drupal so inscrutable, it's just a lot more powerful that phpNuke or PostNuke; next I plan to really study the article "The Power of Drupal Categories" and see if yet more light begins to dawn. What the heck, I taught myself HTML/CSS in about a week, been doing it since 1999, along with various php script installations and customizations, so maybe I can get a handle on this too. Eye-wink

Not to belittle it...

Andrea,

UC is a monster of a system... and I mean that with total respect and love. Its incredibly powerful and flexible... just like Drupal! I have used it for several clients that really needed a solid e-commerce system. I think Drupal is the best CMS out there... and UC is the best shopping cart solution.

However, I have found that alot of my clients simply don't need a full solution like this and are able to get by with a much simpler solution. For those guys I use CCK/Views/Paypal to create a really simple, but solid cart. It doesn't have many bells and whistles, but its a good starting point.

PM me if you want more info (don't want to hijack the thread). In the meantime, keep at it and have fun! I tell my clients all the time:
"The best thing about Drupal is that it can do anything...
The worst thing about Drupal is that it can do anything."

The community is great though, and you will find tons of resources and help.

best regards,
Ron

Re: How do I remove ubercart?

I am investigating Ubercart. I have not seen many negative comments on at all and will most likely install it. But, Ron, I have a question. The site i'm working on right now probably doesn't need Ubercart. It's a site for a self publisher. A dozen or so books. I currently have fields for the book details like ISBNs and dimensions as such. But, the owner wants to just link a Buy Now button to another store like a borders, or barnes and noble, or some other store, maybe amazon...

Anyway, do you have any opinion?
How do you think I should approach this?
Do you have a sample of one of your simple cart sites?

And, lastly, if I decide to add UC later on, will it be simple enough to make the existing books as products of UC?

Thanks in advance
