Hi there, new to Ubercart!

Before I dive into Ubercart and set something up, is it possible to checkout without processing a credit card? Meaning, I don't want to actually process the payment at the time the user buys something on our site (via Ubercart). The user would still enter their credit card info and when they submit, and it would generate an email that is sent to me. We sell software and need to verify buyer and we process their credit card manually. It may sound inefficient, but this is the way we do it b/c we have buyer verification steps in place during purchase.

Just going through the docs, I see all the checkout options for PayPal, Google Checkout, etc, but not one that simply says email. Perhaps what I'm looking for is not an option at all.

Looking forward to hear your replies. Thanks!

No Payment Processing

It is possible to create a site that does not have any payment gateway. When the order is placed it will send an email to both you and the customer as to what was purchased.

However, asking for credit card information is another scenario.

What about setting it up to authorize only first, then capture later?

Thanks for the suggestions

To curb my curiosity, I decided to install Ubercart on our development server and was tinkering with it for several hours. I must say, it's very easy to setup and I'm very impressed. However, the big issue (and the reason why I started this thread) is that our company is located in Canada and the lack of any Canadian payment gateways readily integrated into D6/U2 does not exist yet. So I was looking for an option to have all the great things that Ubercart offers BUT not have the payment gateway that does a full authorize and capture. I did some more research and found some merchants do authorize only, which suits our need. BUT all of the D6/U2 integrated payment gateways require a US merchant account. So no luck there.

I'm abandoning this for now, but when a developed Canadian payment gateway for D6/U2 (or whatever version) appears, I'll be all over it.
