Hi there, I'm interested in using Ubercart for my client and checked out the Livetest today (october 31, 2007) and there was a consistent error during the checkout process:

There were problems getting a shipping quote. Please verify the delivery and product information and try again.
If this does not resolve the issue, please call in to complete your order.

Is this just a feature not enabled in the Livetest or is it a critical issue? It sounds like ubercart is still in Alpha phase, but i'm curious if it is ready for commercial use?

please let me know.

Re: Ubercart Ready for Commercial Use?

Well, as example of Ubercart's usability, we have a number of different ubercart live sites going right now. Ubercart livetest is always in a state of flux because its always testing our current code that we're cranking out. Ubercart is still in alpha phase, but many of the core features are pretty solid right now. By the end of the week, we should have alpha 8 out there. Following that, we should be moving to beta where we'll stop adding features and move to bug testing.

Ubercart Ready for commercial use.

Ubercart is definitely ready for commercial use. Shawn already pointed out the live sites. In addition, Warner Brothers Records in in the process of moving all of their recording artists's web sites to Drupal and Ubercart. The first one to go live is here: https://www.avengedsevenfold.com/product/fan-club

We should put a disclaimer on the livetest site. It is not a demo site. It doesn't work all the time. It is not meant to be pretty. It is just a place for developers to upload new code and test it.

We should also create a demo site with a stable released version of Ubercart.

Thanks for your interest.

it most certainly is!!!

I've set it up on 3 commercial websites so far... all working glitch free and I'm looking forward to the new functionality thats going to be added as Ubercart evolves. Double thumbs up.

www.bullworker.com - simple cart with single, simple products physically shipped worldwide
www.projex.com - ebooks and other digital media purchased and downloaded to customer
www.safebath.co.uk - retail packages for goods posted to the UK

... and I *know* I'll be setting up more ubercarts sooner rather than later Eye-wink

This is awesome, i've been meaning to give ubercart a go for a while, but seeing it was in alpha i wasn't quite sure.

Will there be any update issues? There's the mention that core features will not be touched, but what if there's a bug in core, which is possible between alpha and release. I'm not a software developer, so i'm wondering if new releases will affect a live site in anyway?

Thanks for the great module, well it's more than a module isn't it?!

Updating Ubercart to Newer Version

Had Uber 7E on the live server and used a current Bazaar verson 8A. Just uploaded the new files over the old files and ran update.php to create new DB entries. So far it seems to have worked OK. Other can confirm if they have had the same results.
