Admin Demo and Ubercart Templates (Styles / Themes)?

Hi!

This is my first post to ubercart. I never used cms software but having a look at ubercart shopping live sites I'm really feeling adding drupal cms and then ubercart. I've some questions before I use this ubercart:

1. Is there a live admin demo?
2. Ubercart templates?
3. How can I make my own templates? Tutorials?
4. Do I first need to install drupal and then only I can add ubercart (is a silly question), sorry, my first time with any cms software.
5. While using drupal with ubercart, is it compulsory to provide link to both or any of these sites from each and every page of my website?

Hi Apeee,

Some answers:

1. Is there a live admin demo?

No, there is not.

2. Ubercart templates?

You can use any of the Drupal templates found in the Drupal templates library:
http://drupal.org/project/Themes

3. How can I make my own templates? Tutorials?

Definitely look at the Drupal Themes Guide:
http://drupal.org/node/509

and Ubercart Users Guides:
http://www.ubercart.org/docs/user

4. Do I first need to install drupal and then only I can add ubercart (is a silly question), sorry, my first time with any cms software.

Yes, You install Drupal first. I think you really should start with just getting used to Drupal first. A great place to start for a beginner such as yourself in the Drupal.org Handbooks section, particularly this handbook:

http://drupal.org/handbook/customization/tutorials/beginners-cookbook

Get used to using Drupal first. Then once you are ready and you understand all the facets of Drupal (for instance, what a Module is) then you will be ready to install the Ubercart module.

5. While using drupal with ubercart, is it compulsory to provide link to both or any of these sites from each and every page of my website?

No, it is not required, but its nice to attribute the work if you so desire.

Good luck and know there are lots of folks on Drupal.org and Ubercart that will help you on your way, but definitely search through the forums and the handbooks for lots of information first.
cheers,
Aaron

Shawn will know more of the details (as in login information and readiness for use), but the Ubercart demo site will be a demo site w/ admin access for interested folks. I'm moving to keep the Livetest a little more official and controlled to make it easier for me to test code on. Smiling

Yeah, everything is set up to go now. Cron's configured to reset the database daily. To get a store admin account, all one needs to do is register an account. After completing registration, you'll be kicked to Ubercart's store administration page where you're free to administrate to heart's content.

Shawn,
It seems that previously created accounts haven't had their rights bumped up. I logged in and tried going to demo.ubercart.org/admin and was denied access.

It would be really awesome, from a documentation point of view, if there were a write-up describing how demo.ubercart.org was modified from a stock installation! I'm thinking mainly of additional modules installed, themes, blocks, etc. It looks pretty close to stock, but it would help getting people started if you outlined some of these simple steps to explain why the demo doesn't look like the default and how to get there from the default. It would serve as a great getting started tutorial to building your own site!

kyle,

Previously created accounts from livetest won't be upgraded. Ryan is planning on deleting previous created livetest accounts and users from what I hear. I based the installation off of livetest for the simplicity of not having to configure the ubercart all over again. You can just register new account, that will grant you access to demo.ubercart.org/store/admin.

If that's the plan. I'll just create a new account. I'd intended to create a new account but when it said my email account was already taken, I just went ahead with it and was surprised when I was subsequently denied access. The site looks good though. What theme is that? A custom one or a contributed theme from drupal.org?

I've already wiped all the old data, including user accounts, and setup the new database reset. The theme before was Sky, which I've also used on my church's website. Smiling The creator of the theme is friendly, too.

Now it's back to Garland... the lines around all the tables were making things look awful, at least on the order administration screens. Just a little too much extra styling in some parts.

Thank you Aaron.

I was bit confused on using this forum. I didn't find a URL / image where it says "post reply". Anyway I clicked on a small "reply" text just below your post. I'll install drupal and ubercart very soon and will post my review in this forum. Thanks for all your help guys.

One more thing: when I registered this forum (ubercart), the welcome email at gmail.com was delivered in SPAM folder. So, please check guys, since none of us check emails in that folder. Smiling
