I've applied the UC to one site and it works pretty well. It took a while to build a competent search and sort of product items using views.

If we had a blog install on this site I would be pleased to explain the process, which was involved. Also, I did not do any custom coding.

It would sure be a help to have a blog.

Then users of UC could create more comprehensive documents about their site work, along with modules they used.

Additionally, Screencasts are probably the best tutoring tools we have available. The blog should include the ability to embed video.

The UC is growing in modules, and user base.

A forums have value, but they are limited. I use the search alot, but still many issues go unanswered.

I noticed this morning a new Drupal module call discuss, which appears to be a linking from a node to the forums where specific information in the node can be discussed in a forums apart from the comments.

This discussion forums is helpful, but many postings go unanswered. I'm not picking on anyone, it's just that sometimes you have questions really need answered.

I appreciate all the efforts and contributions - for sure.

Thanks to all

Re: We could use a blog

Excellent suggestion, the site could use some forward motion for sure, but it all just takes time, will certainly consider adding a blog.

I don't see how having a blog solves the problems with the forums though? Seems like it's just more information to sort through when looking for answers. As far as user uploaded content, any authenticated user is welcome to create their own content, including forum posts, perhaps we need a how to section of the forums for tutorials? There are already imbedded videos on some docs pages, the permissions for imbedding videos just limit the users who can do that to a select small group, for spam protection.

As I mentioned, a blog is not out of the question, in fact seems like a good idea, and the discuss module sounds interesting too, but the problem with lack of answers on the forums won't be solved by having more material in more places.

While you don't blame anyone for not answering, I want to point out that more of your posts ask for help than offer help. You are right, sometimes you do have questions you really need answered, but so does everyone. You are as capable as anyone else of answering. Please don't feel like answering is only for admins, it greatly improves the chances of everyone getting answers if more people give more answers. It is unfair for someone with a balance of something like 9 questions to every 1 answer to suggest that there need to be more answers.

If you have any content that you think would be useful, specifically screencasts, especially to supplement the docs, that you are unable to submit due to user permission restrictions, pm me, I will work with you to get it published and out there. Also, with regard to site deployment, if you think it is worth a front page write up, submitting it on drupal . org is a great idea, and it would be great to feature them here too.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Blogs will encourage participation at a more qualified level. Those that have something noteworthy to contribute will know with a blog the message will not melt away into the obscurity of a web forums.

NO, NO, NO ... I don't blame anyone for not answering. Many of us are very busy just banging our own work. In most cases, I just workaround issues and move on.

I do think a blog will produce some very valuable content for everyone concerned. Just discussion about some of the more complex modules that are "set in the stone of a blog" will be very valuable resources.

Setting up a blog in Drupal is simple enough. Getting all the ancillary stuff working... that's another story.

To be very honest, I do have some content that would probably help many others. I'm not a world class guru or anything, which I think is worth noting. It really doesn't matter where you are in Drupal or UC knowledge there are always possibilities for sharing.

I'm reasonably new to UC. I am always excited to see if something new has been added in the contributions. I only have one site up with UC, but I'm always checking in to see if there are new options available.

I do see redundancy in the forums, which in many cases could be resolved with a link to a good article on the topic.

Thanks very much for your response
