I have been following the multi language topics for some time. I too have the same problem.
I did a test with CCK fields. This works but... you can only have the title in one language. The other general idea is the translation with nodes, but this messes up the stock administration.
I haven't seen this idea.
multi language setup (so for every translated product there is a node) which are linked together and thus have one stock value. In other words, a group of products share a common stock value.
This way one could you drupals native translation posibilities, generates more links (and possibly beter search results in Google), and perhaps more.
I am not a programmer, so don't expect a module from. I just come up with ideas that hopefully help.
