uc install option: populate store with sample data

i think this would help in users, admins and developers in getting cozy with uc at the outset. a full array of catalogs and products to demonstrate uc's power to handle classes, attributes, etc, might help catalyze the uc user base.

civicrm has this install option and it helped this noob out a lot.

I think that the import/export module could be leveraged to provide this functionality. Maybe the livetest catalog could be exported and set up as a download?

Not a bad idea, it's just a little more tricky... the Livetest catalog, for example, depends on user roles the catalog taxonomy being setup properly (along w/ the server setup for file downloads). Maybe something a little more simplified would be better... which I guess just the Coding Tools and Uberthreads could do that and leave out the special products.

I need sample data figure out how to configure ubercart. it is too complex..too much information. Until you see what it does , it is tough to visualize.

The devel module can be used to create nodes and populate them with data. It does a fair job of making products, but it leave the price and SKU and some other fields blank. Still, gets you most of the way there.
