This sounds like a good place to use the Special Offers block. Nearly all themes have a "content" region for blocks after the page content. Enable that block for that page, and any products that are "Sticky" will show up in that block.

I'm pretty sure this feature wasn't in Alpha 8, so you'll need to get the Bazaar version to use it.

I could see a "related products" Contrib module... in our old cart system, for each product you could select some related products to up-sell during the checkout process - it would display as "People who bought these items also bought .." etc. However if you have a ton of product that would be a large task. So some kind of method for tracking product purchases in the sense of users' purchasing habits, would be interesting indeed.
