Google Checkout Integration

Just wanted to say I think that ubercart is a great project, keep up the good work.

Anyways on the topic of Google Checkout Integration, I sent the google team an e-mail (using their online form) and I received a response that suggested the Ubercart team fill out a form to indicate willingness to work with Google.

Google checout is the lowest cost online payment solution that I have found so far so it is in most companies best interests to make use of it.

Here is their e-mail:

Quote:

Hello Geoff,

Thank you for your email regarding using Google Checkout with Ubercart.

Please know that Google Checkout is designed to support buyers and sellers
across the web. Google doesn't prohibit the use of Google Checkout on any
marketplaces or shopping cart platforms. However, at this time, Ubercart
hasn't completed integration with Checkout.

We appreciate your feedback, and encourage you to contact Ubercart to let
them know you're interested in offering Google Checkout to your buyers.

Please ask Ubercart to complete the following form for certification:

https://services.google.com/inquiry/checkout_merchant_referrals

Once Ubercart has indicated they're ready to integrate with Google
Checkout, we'll be happy to work with them to certify their integration.

Please know that we're taking steps to make Checkout more widely available
with as many cart providers as possible. We appreciate your interest in
Google Checkout.

Please feel free to reply to this email if you have any additional
questions.

Sincerely,

Kristin
The Google Checkout Team

Thanks for posting the e-mail. Until now I wasn't aware that they are offering to pay for development efforts. We attempted in the past and abandoned our effort due to restrictions w/ shipping, but if we could nail the $2,500 bounty to integrate order processing it might be worth our time. Smiling

Don't forget the longer term benefits. On that page they mention earning .5% of every sale from any merchant who signs up due to a referal from ubercart. .5% over a large number of online stores will add up very quickly.

Hey Ryan, if you guys aren't going to do it, I'll be happy to take on the task for that bounty Smiling

Hi,

I would be really keen to see a Google Checkout module working, including GBP processing.

I am working to set up a site for DRM content and payments will be small (£1-3) the cost of processing these with Google is almost half that of PayPal.

Also Google Checkout offers a deal with AdWords, for every £1 we spend on AdWords we can process £10 worth of transactions for free.

I'm talking this over w/ Andy this evening and hoping to get Ubercart's application through as an e-commerce provider. Looks like it will require us to create a GCO account, and perhaps we can setup a store eventually that uses it for our own purposes. From our past experience integrating w/ GCO, there were limitations that looked like it would take a while to code around. Hopefully those kinks have been worked out and we can support them fully.

Hi, I switched to Ubercart because it seems like UC is closer to google checkout integration than oscommerce. What's the latest? Is someone onto it? I'll be watching closely and thanks alot all you developers.

Aero, I've been waiting to hear back from Google on this. Hopefully we'll get word this week... they just have to review our application as an e-commerce provider. We'll be sure to report as soon as it happens. Eye-wink

I've been working on Google Checkout some, in between bug fixing and keeping track of the forums. It's been slower going since Drupalcon started, but it'll get done eventually.

Very soon. We're just waiting for Google to verify us as a Checkout provider. Hope it won't be too long.

I'm really looking forward to this as well. My client really wants to be able to use Google Checkout. Any idea when we can expect this to be available?

Thanks!

Just got an e-mail from them... working now to get the module validated by Google. So... we're a lot closer now than we were before. Eye-wink

Hi Ryan.
Any update on the progress of integrating Google Checkout?
Also, is this likely to be a US only integration, or should it also work for the UK and the rest of the world?
I'm not too sure what hoops you ned to jump through with Google Checkout, but we have several clients who are keen to use it, and would like to keep abreast of the situation.
And thanks, Ubercart is fantastic!

Things are progressing. I've been in communication with Google's certification team, making changes as they are suggested. If things keep going as they are, they are confident that Ubercart will be certified sometime next week.

Ryan,

I appreciate your hard work on the google checkout module.

I need to provide an ecommerce store that is integrated to google checkout. I am willing to put a 8 hours of work into coding this module (i have done it in dotnet and in java), but I was hoping that you would be able to release it before I re-invent your wheel.

Can you give a tentative beta release date so that I figure out what I need to do? I would really appreciate it so I can plan accordingly. I would rather wait a little than re-invent your wheel or go with zen.

Thanks, and keep up with the good work. I have worked with Oracle 11i, Ofbiz, oscommerce and ubercart is the sweetest!

Lyle's actually been the one working this module. Eye-wink He's posted the code on drupal.org (http://drupal.org/project/uc_google_checkout), though I'm not sure if that's the latest. He's been doing some bugfixing per Google's feedback. Unless your deadline is next week, I'd wait a few days so we can green light it, and we'd love it if you could use Ubercart's referral link to sign up the account.

The documentation says you need the Secure Pages module so that the callback URL can use HTTPS.

I've really got to move that page to a better spot....
