I was wondering if anyone has worked with Hostgator.com.

The question that I have is, with their business hosting plan they provide you with a free private SSL. Will this SSL be safe to use for my Ecommerce website, or should I get a third company SSL? They have assured me that it would be sufficient for an Ecommerce website. If so I should get another one, where should I look at getting a reasonably priced and good SSL? Thank you for your help.

Re: Private SSL Opinion

We're with Hostgator as well and use their private SSL on one of our older Zencart sites. Works fine...

When our Drupal/Ubercart site is finished we'll be using the Hostgator Private SSL for the secured pages as well.

The only reason I can think not to use their private SSL, is that you want to keep the URL for the SSL pages on the same domain as your main website. In my experience most customers dont' even know they've browsing the secure pages with my host's domain displayed in the URL as the SSL cert is for the host's domain.
