I've just added the Books by Mary Oakley website to the live sites list. The theming needs a little work, although I always take the view that simple is best. Nothing wrong with Garland - it's popular for a reason.
The site began its life as an osCommerce site. It would probably have stayed there, had I not learned Drupal and used it in lots of other settings. All the modifications I had made to a vanilla osc installation were tweaks to the core. I could have used diff and patch to keep these modifications in place with each new release, but I began to lose track, and with that to stop bothering upgrading. Eventually, Ubercart hit 2.0-6.x and I thought it was time to bring the site over. Straight away, I like the usability, especially the one-page checkout.
