Was this information Helpful?

Just launched out online jewelry store chunkybling.com. Using Threadless.com as my inspiration, I tried to add a lot of the same UI touches (e.g. price superimposed on product pictures). But Ubercart is what really brought everything together! So thanks.

Re: ChunkyBling - Jewelry Site

My goodness, that started out as Glitterati somewhere under that?? I recognized the favicon. Wow, it looks awesome!

My question was about the price overlays -- I've been looking into doing something similar for conditional imagecache presets to overlay a "new" or "sale" badge, but hadn't though of the price. Could you share how you did this?

Gorgeous original Drupal themes (and Ubercart themes!) ~ Psst: more Ubercart themes on our new site

Re: Re: ChunkyBling - Jewelry Site

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, this started as the TNT Glitterati theme, but I did a LOT of customization. I created the price overlays using ImageCache and 2 Actions:

1. Watermark to superimpose the blue square in the lower-left corner.
2. Text overlay, using the following PHP snippet:

$price = round($node->sell_price, 1);
return "$$price";

Voila! I can send you a screen shot of the config settings, if you need more guidance.

Very nice site. I love all the customization. Hopefully one day I can achieve this status. Great work!

Very nice work. I really like the design for this one. Great use of Ubercart. Really easy to navigate.

Good use of uc_upsell. Thumbs which are sized differently if there are three or four items is a nice touch.

Constructive criticism:

I'd recommend some kind of effect to highlight the shopping cart adds (uc_ajax_cart) as I feel for the end user, they're prompted enough on successful product ads. Here's some code to get it working if you're interested: http://drupal.org/node/555256

My only other recommendation would be to add/improve the background on the website, so if there's a long page and you're scrolled down near the bottom, everything isn't completely white. I'm not going to lie, some of my sites suffer from this issue as well Laughing out loud

Thanks for the feedback. I'm going to give that cart highlight patch a try. I've been looking for something to give the user more feedback at add-to-cart time. I was originally thinking a popup window, but this is a bit more elegant.

No Location

Yes, Chunky Bling is an excellent looking website. As a designer you did a wonderful job.

You may want to ask the site owners why they are hiding their mailing address. Could not find where they located or a street address. To some clients this raises a red flag.

What works well for many sites is to place contact information in the footer. Or if already in use for other applications add mailing address, location, phone, etc to the 'contact us' page.

USPS Titles

Nice Site,
Very clean layout and easy to use. I was wondering how you edited the USPS shipping Methods Titles on the checkout page? You were able to add in the estimated days of delivery.

Thanx,

Re: USPS Titles

I actually went in and edited Ubercart directly, although you could probably do the same thing with the string overrides module.

Very nice website, 1. How did

Very nice website,

1. How did you manage to create "Customers Say It Best!" from comments on the front page? Is it kind of view?
2. What module you are using for images - "click thumbnails to change view"? I like this more than lightbox

Thanks

Re: Very nice website, 1. How did

Thanks for the feedback. To answer your questions:
1. The 'Customers Say It Best' page is completely custom PHP. It's just pulling in all comments associated with products on the website.
2. This functionality provided by a paid module called 'MagicZoom'. I tried lightbox but found MagicZoom to be much easier and more stable.
