Hi there.

The way I understand how UC works when selling downloads is that one must specify a file when creating a product. When the product is created, the user is directed to that file upon order completion.

I have a slightly different scenario where a user is buying a service where our company collects information for the customer which we then want to send to them.

Is it possible to send or upload a unique file to a customer?

This is quite urgent so any speedy comments would be most appreciated.

When it's ready, you can put that file in the folder that the uc_file module uses to populate the file choices in the file feature form. Then you can give a particular user access to that file by editing their account. You can specify an expiration time, or a download limit, or set any of the other options that are normally available.

This way, you don't actually need to add the file feature to your product.

Hey, thanks for the speedy response. I'm a little confused as to how I'd go about this. Would I FTP the file into the directory? Then how do I edit their account for them to view that file? Bearing in mind that file is unique to them and they must not see any other files that other customers may have ordered.

You'd upload (FTP) the file to your defined UC files directory, and then edit the user's account. You'll then see all your uploaded files in a select box which you can manually add to their account and it'll show up under their file downloads tab.

some questions:

does customer have to buy anything via ubercart? or do i simply use the ubercart as a sort of file management system? that is i just use it to show the user where they can download their files when i have them ready?
