I am looking into using Ubercart and am in the process of comparing it to other carts. I was just wondering what modules ones are using with Ubercart. For ones just starting whats absolutely necessary and what are some good addons on top of that?

Re: Top Modules you use with ubercart

Because UC integrates seamlessly with CCK, you can use almost any other drupal module that displays/exposes CCK fields. GMap, audio, video, ... the list is endless. This is in addition to the dozens of modules that come prepackaged with UC, including payment gateways, reporting modules, etc.

Right now, im just researching what others are using, generally speaking what does every storefront need or better yet should have.

Thanks for the reply

I'm somewhat biased, but the UC Upsell module is a good one to have. You can show related products on product pages as well as on the Cart page. When I first wrote it for my company, we immediately saw a huge improvement in our average order size, going from $3 to 5 or 6. (Our products at the time were no more than $3 each..) Once people realize "hey, there are other things that suit my interests" the results are immediately apparent.

As far as other modules for UC, uc_discounts and uc_coupon have been working out really well for us. Another great way to improve sales is to offer free stuff or discounts on bundled purchases.

This won't be a fit for everyone out there, but I regularly end up using the UC Restrict Qty module. It alters parts of the user interface to allow items to display properly when you don't want customers to purchase more than one at a time. Very handy!

Also, this is more a backend thing, but you should definitely use the Administration menu module.

I think that one of the biggest challenges in developing an ecommerce package are the addons. I mean learning how to use the cart and its features itself takes time and effort, but now with so many addons, how do you keep track, where do you get the time to keep checking whats the latest and greatest that is coming out.

So thanks for the comments this is really helping out

Imagecache is always nice to use. Especially with some nice addon as imagecache_actions. Makes even the dullest picture on you site something special.
Simnplenews for you newsletters.
Xmlsitemap which made my site perform great at my site in Dutch.

So many nice things to do... Really makes you enjoy the Drupal experience...
