hello,

I am trying to build a (what should be) a simple clothing site.
I need to:

1. have a menu button that states men and a menu button that states women
2.after clicking one of these buttons i would like the page to go to a grid gallery displaying the various articles of clothing
3.now clicking on each specific image in the gallery takes you to the specific item in which a viewer can view and select clothing colors (i know you can set attributes for this).

i've been at this for nearly 2 days straight and i can't wrap my head around this. i have extensive html/css knowledge and a wee bit AS3 and PHP...and feel like an idiot quite frankly at this point. setting this up visually in html or flash would have taken me like and hour...what the heck am i missing?

what modules do i use?
what is the overall structure?
Im confused over the roles of product type, categories, pages, book, etc... in a drupal/ubercart ecommerce site.
What's the best way to implement this.
I have found tons of links to useless tutorials and pdfs that don't help at all.

btw...is there a way to change the image of the product with an attribute drop down box...so if you are viewing a red shirt...you go to the color attribute drop down box select "green" and the image changes to the green shirt or do you have to make another product for each shirt color?

any guidance would be appretiated.

Re: getting started

Yikes. That's a lot to ask in a forum. I do have a suggestion for you though. Buy the book "Using Drupal" It includes a chapter for setting up an online clothing store using Ubercart. http://www.amazon.com/Using-Drupal-Angela-Byron/dp/0596515804 Good luck!
