I am investigating a situation where I would have a Ubercart product, but the customer would need to enter some text in a field which would then be processed manually by my company. Is it possible to have an attribute text field that will become part of the order?

To give an example - supposing I had a domain extension (.com) set up as a product. There would be a field where the customer could enter a preferred name for the domain. My company would then take the name entered in the text field and register it separately.

Is this possible?

I am looking at this as a low cost alternative to integrating a domain registrar API into Ubercart.

Atrribute Field

If I'm understanding correctly...for instance say you had a t-shirt website. And you need them to type in some random text they wanted printed on the shirt. Same situation? right? And when they purchased it would attach that text to their order so you can easily view what they wanted, correct?

If I understand you correctly then yes this is totally possible and quite easy with Uber Cart. Just setup a new attribute call it whatever you'd like. Then just set the attributes options so its a Text Field, and it can display help text under the box saying a blurb about enter your text here, etc. Then save it. Then on your product page just add the attribute. And its done!

Re: Atrribute Field

Thank you, Duex. That's exactly what I am looking for. It's almost a year since I did an Ubercart site, so I wasn't sure if this would be possible.
