Hi all,

If a product's dimensions are left blank, does the USPS module assume a shipment is "nonmachinable" and return a higher price quote? Getting some funky results in one of our Ubercart 1.x stores where the USPS quotes are coming back unusually high in some cases. Trying to narrow down the cause and wondering if there's some logic involved on product dimensions, if they're left blank, etc.

If they can't be left blank, is there a default dimension that can be entered in the database to ensure the USPS quote doesn't come back as nonmachinable?

Would also like to know if this is processed any differently in 2.x.

Thanks much!

Re: USPS quotes, product dimensions, machinable vs. non-machinab

Solved this, sort of. The problem in this case was a changed pickup address that didn't match the store default. If a cart included products with different pickup addresses, the USPS calculation assumes more than one box/shipment and increases the postage accordingly. This was head-scratching; would be good if that was more clearly documented in the blurb next to the pickup address info on the product add/edit page.

More generally, would still like to know more about USPS module calculations, weight, if dimensions are required, machinable/non-machinable, etc. Anything anyone can point me to?

Cheers,

Default Dimentions Yes!

I'm in a situation where I don't really need a dimension, but will now have to go through all the products to enter dimensions just to get UPS working. lame.
