Am I missing something? but why does shipping need to be calculated if you set up flat shipping rate with rules?

Did you ever figure this question out?

I am in a similar situation with flat rate shipping and pick-up in office as my two options. I have no reason for shipping to be calculated. It is overkill. Any workarounds?

Tried that, thats not really a work around. Even if you click the "calculate shipping" in the cart, it still has to be recalculated in the checkout. A customer who gets to the checkout and is only showed the delivery price then is more likely to abandon cart. The delivery, imo, if set to flat rate, should be added to the cart already so its upfront for the customer.

Pay for Module

I have contacted a few of my customers who have gone as far as the checkout page and not completed their order to find out why. Most of them told me it was because I wasnt upfront with the shipping charges. It then stands to reason that I am loosing orders because a lack of this functionality. I would even go as far as saying that I would be happy to pay someone to write a module which allowed the customer to select a delivery method (pending rules) on the cart page.
