I'm using:
Drupal 6
Ubercart 2.0-rc6Ubercart 2.0-rc6

I setup flat rate but no matter what i do it doesn't calculate shipping cost unless i check to have a carrier in my case Canada Post...

No, it should work just fine on its own. What about weightquote, does it do the same thing?

I have sent you a pm weightquote seems to do the same. If i uncheck canadian post Calculate Shipping cost shows an error.
