I am new to both Ubercart and Paypal. I have read http://www.ubercart.org/paypal but still have some questions. I have created a Paypal business account, and would like to use it to receive payments from 2 stores (different websites).

Do I need to enable Paypal's Payment Data Transfer and Instant Payment Notificatin? How will it work when I have two websites?

http://www.ubercart.org/paypal discusses setting up API access. Is this to 'instead of' or 'in addition to' enabling PDT and/or IPN. Or is this only for testing.

Are the 3 steps in http://www.ubercart.org/paypal the only requirements? Are there any other recommended configurations in Paypal and Ubercart?

Please excuse my basic questions, I did do a forum search before posting. Many thanks in advance!

Re: ubercart + paypal help

Is this question too easy or too complex? Help appreciated Smiling

Hello, I have paypal

Hello,

I have paypal working on my site.
I don't have API credentials so it works without. Just make sure you use the correct emailaddress for receiving payments.

IPN works automatically. I don't think you can turn it off.
I haven't found Paypal Data Transfer anywhere.

Make sure the submissionmethod is: Submit the whole order as a single line item.
Paypal server should be 'live'.

It works almost right out-of-the-box.

Good luck,
Sanne

I added an FAQ page for the instructions (basically, turn everything off) until more documentation is written. PayPal is somewhat complex... I'm fairly sure that since the IPN details are sent by Ubercart you can use it with as many different sites as you want. You'll need to have the e-mail addresses on your PayPal account configured properly for your businesses.

Re: I added an FAQ page for the

Looks like this thread is a bit old - but hoping for some more information re Paypal integration can be provided. Have read the FAQ page and also http://www.ubercart.org/docs/user/3356/configuring_paypal_website_paymen.... Comment/question:

- When "Setting up WPS", how does setting the "Return URL" to my localhost work?
- Amazed "Testing in the PayPal Sandbox (optional)" is "optional"! Shouldn't this be recommended? And could this information be expanded - please?

A couple quick answers: 1.

A couple quick answers:

1. You won't be able to test it on your localhost unless you're exposing your browser to the web and can use either your IP address or one of those self-ip domain names. I've used no-ip.com in the past with good success... doesn't even require a static IP.

2. The Sandbox is just such a royal pain. I think testing should be done on any site for sure, but it's going to be a lot faster (and therefore cheaper) to just test in live mode w/ $1 products or something.

i agree about paypal sandbox being a p.i.t.a.
i just set up a product for 10 cents and test with that.
