When setting up an e-commerce site with ubercart, is an SSL certificate required to have secure pages or is there a way or a module to have the secure pages without buying a certificate? Alternatively, if hosting provides free shared SSL, is there a module that overrides the invalid certificate popup.

If an SSL certificate is required, has anyone used runssl.

Re: Ubercart & SSL

SSL is required any time your dealing with secure data epecially credit cards. No module can do this only SSL on your server.

You must have a valid certificate signed by a provider such as digicert, godaddy, commando etc. in order to prevent the invalid popup message.

I never heard of runssl so I can't comment.
