here is what i'm trying to do:

have a certain category(A) block of products only show under another broader category(B) section (like menu block module) . and when a product is clicked under category (A), that particular menu block does not go away, like still displays the actual product node page while displaying the menu(A).

anyone have any suggestions to do this with existing modules? taxonomy menu does not work with menu block, they both create blocks and do not integrate with each other. aslo, any modules that would keep the menu static while displaying the product node?

suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Re: "menu block" like navigation for product categories.

bump. anyone have any ideas to do this?

what i'm trying to do is similar to totalwallcovering dot com
if you navigate to the top menu, you see how the left menu stays static while navigating the left menu and individual product nodes.
can this be done in drupal?

Re: Re: "menu block" like navigation for product categories.

I'm pretty sure this is default behavior for the catalog if I understand you right. You want a supercategory when when clicked you want a subcategory to appear, which stays visible right through to product node viewing?

Alternatively if you want the supercategory to only be in a different block as a menu-type item you could possibly have a separate taxonomy vocab for that, with just the subcategories in the catalog... select a supercategory and a subcategory when creating the product and then use views to show the products? (Or there is possibly a neater way in UC to do this... I'm struggling with designing a complex catalog layout at the moment).
