I get to the point of submitting an order and it gives me this message:

We're sorry. An error occurred while processing your order that prevents us from completing it at this time. Please contact us and we will resolve the issue as soon as possible.

I have SSL enable and working, authorize.net module installed with my api login and key.

I have authorize.net in test mode and have tried all three options here:
Live transactions in a live account
Test transactions in a live account
Developer test account transactions

None of them allow me to submit an order.

Am I missing something?

The other threads related to this message are from 3 years ago and on uc 1.5 so I'm not sure they apply here.

Authorize.net acct error

Looks like you've got it setup right in Ubercart, at least, it's communicating with Authorize.net.

For that message, you'll need to contact Authorize.net. It may indicate a problem with your account type or settings, such as having a retail account (card present) instead of e-commerce (card not present).

Re: Authorize.net acct error

You hit the nail on the head. I found out that I had a card present account. I'm new to this and had no idea there were the two types. Not present and present. When signing up I specified I was doing online and instore sales then when all the dust settled I was issued a card present account.

I'm still getting this error when I take authorize.net out of test mode and try to process a card through ubercart. I was just going to run my own credit card and then refund it later.

v2.x Go Live docs.

I am curious if you solved your problem or if you gave up and used some other solution?
I assume you solved it. Will you share?

My problem is that, while I have authorize.net correctly installed and Ubercart is pushing the AUTH_ONLY request to them, the error is "not a credit card number" because my gateway is only sending the last four digits of the CC to Authorize.net unless I am in debug mode. This seems to be the point at which people stop communicating to the community about how to make the gateway work fully.

How do I go live, please?
