Currently, I have 3 Drupal sites up with ubercarts on each.
I believe I can consolidate those ubercarts into one installation.
The stores have very similar products that have some crossover.
Should I build a separate domain for the ubercart something like - generalstore.com/store/
then maintain the ubercart at standalone domain site.
Users would click on menu and such to link into www.generalstore.com/store/ from the other (feeder) sites.
Currently I have three drupal sites with ubercarts on each. I'm not complaining about anything.
Naturally, the ubercart products descriptions and such, do have a lot of information that has SEO value.
I suspect by having a standalone domain with a redirect to the generalstore as a separate domain I will lose SEO value.
I have had some issues with various Drupal and ubercart modules, which should be lessened.
Also, the MySql database would be much smaller and this kind of arrangement should be more efficient.
Anyway, I thought to bring it up for discussion. I am seriously thinking of doing this.
I may also be adding additional standalone sites that will have links into a proposed "dedicated" drupal UC site.
The options I have with the Views module will make this possible as well.
I can have variations in appearance of the display dependent upon the site the referred user to the UC site.
I am talking about 3 sites now, but I can see where I can have several more pointer domains.
I got the idea messing with Magento, because it is such a darned memory hog.
THen over the past few days on several of my sites, with UC installed I have gotten some error messages associated with server memory.
Drupal 7 we need it now... LOL
