Disable Price Field

Hohoho

Would it be possible to hide the Price field for a certain set of product nodes? The antique shop I am building would like to show some of their sold product, like a track record showcase. They want to hide the price and instead show a field "Sold". The "Sold" field I can add myself.

Can I create a "sold" category and associate the node to it, and show/hide the price field depending on it's value?

Let's put it this way: give me your best thoughts on how to change a product node to a "sold" state and still show it to the web visitor.

I can add a CCK field and set it to "sold", and put 0 in price. A little tedious but...

Could two classes of products be a way to go?

It would be nice to able to sort the sold nodes out from the once on sale.

Any thoughts appreciated.
