Hello,
I have a nice running drupal site, www.2dogrc.com. We sell remote control airplane items. What I am looking for is a module instead of the stock product kit from drupal. What I am looking to do is for a particular product have a way a customer can build their custom "kit". Kinda like when you go to Dell and pick your monitor then memory and hard drive size.

So basically for each product type I would select the available products as options in the specfic sections. For example I would populate which motors a customer could select for a certain plane. Then also have a drop down of possible batteries, another for servos.

Does anybody know of a good module that would get me close to this format? I really like drupal after coming from oscommerce, but I am always trying to improve my website and the options for my customers.

Thank you in advance,
Mark

Hi Mark,

Did you ever find a solution for this as it is almost exactly what I am trying to achieve at the minute (but no for RC kits)?...possibly with the exception that I'd also need to include attributes for each product.

Many thanks

Well, We tried. To be more

Well,
We tried. To be more precise, my programmer tried. What he tried to do was to tie in multiple existing modules, the Uc_sub_product and coupon module for a discount on combined items. It turned out ot have too many variable for the the framework and code that we were dealing with. We tried to have the coupon module apply a discount for the products if you added a certain amount to the cart also. But again, too many cases to test. we decided to abandone the idea after he worked on it for 2 days.

We decided to move onto other improvements. Let me know if you get something working as we could share the burden of development.

Many thanks for your reply.

I'm a bit stuck on the development side of things due to my lack of skills in the Ubercart inner workings but it looks as though I may be able to get a solution built by somebody else.

Are your kits available at a set price or were you trying to apply a % discount? My guy wants to sell his kits at a set price so his discounts could vary greatly. Please let me know and i'll see if I can get this built in.

What we wanted to do was if you have a certain number of items added to the combo a certain discount will apply. For example on a plane product, if you add a motor and speed controller you get 5% off. If you add 2 more servos, and a battery then 10% off. The discount would apply to the number of products added. The trick on this one to is how does the admin setup which products are available for each product. Also when someone orders these extra products they are deducted from the stock.

If you get something working let m know, I would be willing to pay you if the code is what we needed,
