This is the first time I've encountered this problem. A client was testing a new coupon that was added to their site and in the ordering process and noticed that the tax that was calculated was way off. I've added a screenshot of the cart. A $11.99 item is in the cart, $3.53 is applied for shipping and a tax of $11.15 is added!

The only thing that changed in the past couple of weeks was that the coupon (Ubercart Discount Coupons) was added. All the coupon does is place a line item in the cart allowing the company to donate a portion back to the organization.

I tried to replicate the problem and could not. I wish I could ignore the issue, but it happened and it could happen again. I need to make sure it doesn't happen for a customer.

Has anyone else encountered this? Or, have an idea what happened?

Thank you,
Joe

Re: CA Tax line item is way off!

So what should the tax be? How are your taxes configured? What does the order look like in the admin back end? (I think this is the first time I've seen the checkout page printed, then scanned back in and attached to a bug report!)

Re: Re: CA Tax line item is way off!

As I mentioned before, this is the first time I've encountered a tax problem on the site (in the past 2 months). The tax rate is set at 7.75%, so it should be .93 cents.

There was no order on the back end because this was a test and the client saw this as he was testing the new coupon... the order was not completed. What I did learn later was that he had other products in the cart (which would account for the higher tax), but he removed them from the cart. So, for some reason, Ubercart did not update the tax when the other product(s) were removed.

The reason I uploaded a screenshot of a scanned page was because this is what the client emailed me.
