I'm trying to get a flate rate shipping price per order, and not just per product. Every order place should receive a shipping cost of $8.50, no matter if it is just one item or many. Currently I have it set so each product has a shipping cost of $8.50, but it really just needs to be the whole order. This is my first time using ubercart, anyone with some spare time to help me, much is appreciated.
Flate Rate Shipping for whole order

What TR sent me helps me a lot in understanding how conditions and shipping quotes work within ubercart. But I don't see how this can help me...By applying a condition to my flat rate shipping quota, it is still going to apply the flat rate shipping quota to each individual product.
Here are the setting that were used in 6E for a flat rate per order. In this case, the customer can order one item or ten and the shipping/handling will stay the same. It was setup for no shipping cost if a local purchase. But too many folks decided that they were local even when located in Texas! i.e. thus removed!!
Not sure what is currently working on version 7. Will upgrade myself once RC 1 is out after a few weeks.

When you set up the flat rate at admin/store/settings/quotes/methods/flatrate you can choose a base rate (per order) plus a per-product rate (to apply to each product).
In your first post you said you entered a flat rate for each product. Entering the rate on a product page overrides the default flat rate per-product setting for that product. If you want the global flat rate to take effect, you need to remove the rate you entered on each product page.
Much is very appreciated Alaska. Excellent screen shots. My problem was that I had the base rate and default rate reversed. But I switched them after looking at your screen shots. Thanks!
This doesn't seem to work in UC1. Flat rate always multiplies by the number of products in the order. Can any one help on this one? What am step I missing?
Thanks,
Gary
EDIT:
Never mind, I found that all the products had an overiding price set from when I had the rates set the wrong way around.
Thanks
Thanks Guys, this works nicely.
Is there a way to show this automatically on the checkout page?
I disable the Shipment calc pane because I charge a flat shipping rate, and I saw not reason in calculating a cost that is always the same, but it is not added to the totals in the end without that calculation.
Any ideas?
There isn't any way for Ubercart to know that it's always going to be the same. Even though there's only the one shipping quote method, it can't tell the difference between it or the USPS method. Therefore, it has to calculate the shipping cost every time.
Thanks Lyle!
Yeah, I tried to work around it with the "payment adjustments" module without much lick.
Meanwhile, I went back to using the shipping pane, and I noticed that when the user clicks "My billing information is the same as my delivery information." it autocalculates the shipping! Have you noticed it?
That is pretty cool.
Cheers,
G
