Minify and MySQL Tuning

Kind of a two-fold question. First, I'd like to incorporate minify in my site. I'm using the garland template, and from what I can see in page.tpl.php, it appears the $head variable is set elsewhere, and I'm guessing that's what needs modifying to incorporate minify. Any quidance on where I can find the $head variable and tweak it?

Secondly, any suggestions on an optimal MySQL config? I've 129 MB of RAM available to me, 10 GB disk space. Specifically, any rules of thumb for sizing the query cache?

Much thanks,

Any other JS/CSS aggregation modules or patches that can be applied?

Are there plans to build ubercart on a Drupal 6.X install? I believe 6.x has aggregation built in by default, if I'm not mistaken.

Apologies -- I completely missed the page cacheing and css aggregation settings in admin/performance. Fixed that. Don't see any settings for JS aggregation -- is it built in as well, or necessary, for that matter?

Still curious about the MySQL tuning, however. Any suggestions are appreciated.

AdministratorHead Code Monkey - I eat bugs.

JS caching wasn't introduced in D5, and I'm not sure if it finally made it into D6 or not. I won't be much help on the MySQL tuning side, though... you might just try searching Drupal.org in general or the High performance group on g.d.o.

And we are planning the update for D6 after the 1.0 release. Smiling

I found a 5.x compatible JS aggregator module here that seems to be working fairly well. Between it and CSS aggregation, I've seen a fair decrease in page execution times. I think the real speed increases in page loads will come from tweaking my database config. I'll continue digging and see what I can come up with.

And that's 128 MB of RAM I have. Darned adjacent keys!

Bug FinderEarly adopter... addicted to alphas.Getting busy with the Ubercode.

There is a JS aggregation patch for D5, which I had to revert because it screwed up my ability to save Performance settings. =/

With regard to MySQL tuning, one thing I'd recommend is mysql query cache.
